Chart

The Chart panel shows live candlesticks. Your browser talks to the exchange directly; we do not store or rebroadcast market data.

Open a chart

Open a Surface tab — + on the tab strip, then Surface. A Surface starts with a chart. Add more charts from the tab ▾ layout menu or from + on the chart toolbar.

A new chart starts on Bybit BTCUSDT at the 1m interval.

Standalone Chart tabs are not in the add menu. If a workspace already has one, it still opens.

Symbol and exchange

Use the toolbar above the chart: Symbol opens the shared ticker list. Pick Bybit or Binance inside that menu, then choose a contract.

On a narrow screen (phone or small window) the full toolbar is tucked behind a menu button. The compact strip still shows the active symbol and interval; open the menu for exchange, interval chips, Indicator, fit and the other controls. Same chrome as on desktop — not a separate mobile theme.

The picker lists every symbol the exchange trades, together with its last price, 24h change and 24h turnover (compact columns — no drag-reorder). Click a column header to sort — by default the highest-turnover markets are on top. Type in Search symbol to narrow the list.

Changing exchange or symbol reloads history and reconnects the live candle stream for that market. The price scale recenters on the new candles — even if you had dragged or zoomed the Y-axis on the previous symbol.

Each chart tab keeps its own symbol and interval. Two chart tabs side by side can watch two markets, and your choice is still there after you switch to another tab, reload the page or open the desk on another device.

Intervals

When the chart toolbar is wide enough, every interval is a chip (1m … 1w). If they no longer all fit, the same dropdown as on an indicator overlay lists every interval — not a leftover chip strip plus ….

On an indicator pane the interval is always that dropdown in the overlay on the heatmap — not a second chip strip. That overlay does not reserve a bar of height; the heatmap uses the full pane.

History while scrolling

Pan or zoom left toward older time. When you near the left edge, the chart loads more history from the exchange and keeps your place on the timeline. A Matrix indicator under that chart loads the same stretch so the heatmap stays aligned with the candles.

Price scale

Scroll the mouse wheel on the right price axis to zoom price. Scroll over the candles to zoom time. Drag the price axis to shift the window; a double-click on it restores auto-scale. Changing symbol or interval also restores auto-scale so the new market is in view.

The fit control (horizontal-expand icon, next to Indicator) resets time and price zoom to the loaded bars. Concept drawings stay.

Several charts, one connection

You can open multiple chart panels or chart tabs. They share the same exchange WebSocket through the shared market feed — four charts on the same symbol do not open four sockets.

Use Feed in the desk footer to inspect open connections and subscriber counts while you test.

Concept overlays

Market structure — gaps, zones, levels, breaks — can be drawn on the price pane of any chart. Switch it on under Tools → Concepts; a strip with the as-of slider then appears under the candles. See Concepts.

Indicators on a Surface

In a Surface tab, indicators are either per chart or shared for the whole Surface — never mixed.

• Per chart (default): Indicator adds panes under that chart. Each chart keeps its own stack. The link control next to the chart interval makes those panes follow the chart timeframe (their own interval dropdown hides). New charts and a newly added indicator turn this link on.
• Shared: From a Surface with exactly one chart, use + → Chart to the right/below · shared indicator. All charts then share one indicator zone under the chart area. Hover a chart to make it the leader (amber outline); shared panes follow that chart’s time and crosshair. Further + only adds charts; Indicator adds to the shared stack. If you remove charts until only one remains, you are back at the decision point — shared ends and + offers the choice again.

The stack shares one time axis at the bottom. Extra indicator panes sit between the candles and that axis — they do not grow their own.

Adding or removing charts on a Surface, switching layout presets, or leaving and returning via another workspace/tab should not reload charts that were already running — instances stay mounted.

Theme

Light and dark follow the desk theme control. Chart colours use the same --cmd-* tokens as the rest of the product.

Pop-out

Use the header control to open the chart in its own window. It stays on the same shared feed as the main desk.
